Who: Trail Boss: Jim Ness. Open to all TDS Members and Guests (Guest are always invited). This is a GREEN
RUN.

What: Just a fun weekend, Squeeze, an open pit mine, a scenic view and the Colorado River. You may shoot in
the area away from campers.

When: Saturday, January 26-28, 2018, 0900 Drivers Meeting, Aired down and ready to roll.

Where: I will camp near American Girl Mine Rd. and Ogilby Rd. Camping area is N 32 degrees, 49’46” x
W114 degrees, 49’12” (or real close). I will camp there Friday and Saturday night. All are Welcome to join me.
How to get there: The drive from San Diego takes about 3 hrs. Top off gas in El Centro, continue East on I-8 to Ogilby Rd (about 41 miles past El Centro). Go North on Ogilby Rd. to American Girl Mine Rd (about 3.9 miles, just pass the RR tracks, NOT Sidewinder Rd.). Turn right on American Girl, go about 1.2 miles to an elevated water tank (left side). I will camp about 200 yards east of the tank. Look for a black Mitsubshi, Montero SR. Lots of room for motorhomes. Free camping.

Things of interest: Open to all Street legal 4WD vehicles. On this run we will drive down into American ‘Open Pit’ Mine. Then go down a riverbed with a small waterfall. Then cross country to a scenic drive and drop down to No-Name Canyon North end. Those small enough will follow me thru ‘The Squeeze’ will make a loop and enter the Squeeze from the South and exit (North end) and meet up with anyone that did not go thru. Then take Picacho Rd to the Colorado River. There is a small charge to enter Picacho Park and we will have lunch there. I hope to take a park road to Indian Pass Road and back to camp. Also very interesting is Gold Rock Museum where you will see Stuff from the Gold Mining days. There was a lot of gold found in the Cargo Muchacho Mountains area. No charge at the museum. Total run is 60+ miles. Pot-Luck Saturday evening. Chinese Theme, bring something to share.

Bring: Water, lunch, standard safety gear, 2 meter radio (extra if possible) and a good attitude. Sunday you are on your own, the ghost town of TUMCO & Gold Rock is just around the corner. No guides.
