DESCRIPTION:Altar Dunes to Pinacate Run\nOver the Presidents Day holiday weekend Tierra del Sol Four Wheel Drive Club will once again traverse the Desierto de Altar in Sonora\, Mexico. It is the largest patch of sand in North America and provides challenges to navigation and communication. As a four wheel drive run it is unique since there is no “trail” to follow. Day one starts at the Small Cross in the dunes at the end of a sand road. Travel is East toward the Sikes crater in the Pinacate Volcano park. DESCRIPTION:San Diego 4 Wheelers – Superstition 28\nJanuary 16-18\nTDS BOD and Members will be attending this overnight event with the San Diego 4 Wheelers. We highly encourage you to consider supporting their event. This event\, as ours helps keep public lands open for public use. \nThe San Diego 4 Wheelers invites you to join us at the 28th Annual Superstition Mountain Run at Superstition Mountain OHV area just west of El Centro\, CA. We have a variety of trails from SUV to Category 5 runs and a HUGE raffle (including a special LADIES-ONLY RAFFLE!). Beginners and new 4X4s welcome!  This event is open to vehicles that do not require a helmet (i.e. no side-by sides\, quads\, or motorcycles). \nThe base camp will be near the end of Wheeler Road\, close to where the BLM Kiosk used to be (just before Wheeler turns north). The GPS coordinates for the event are 32.92158\, -115.81181. The ground is firm\, level\, and there is plenty of room for RVs and tents. The club will provide porta-potties and a large dumpster for trash will be available onsite. The terrain is desert\, so bring firewood if you want a fire. \nWARNING! Any pallets or wood with nails in it is prohibited. This is a family-oriented event geared towards everything from stock 4x4s on guided historic and slightly challenging tours to fully built rock crawlers on Fordyce Creek Trail and everything in between. Stock vehicles should consider signing up for the Wednesday/Thursday Overnight\, the Saturday Historic Run\, the Outer Limits Run or the Signal Peak run. Moderately modified vehicles will love the beauty and the challenge of the intermediate run or the Signal Peak Run. \nFordyce Trail is an extremely technical and challenging trail\, therefore is offered to the more modified vehicles requiring at least 35” tires and a minimum of one locker. Larger tires\, two lockers and crawler gearing are all recommended to improve the overall participant experience on the Fordyce Trail runs.
