Join Laura and me for a Rest & Relaxation weekend at the beach. Don’t worry, we’ll have just a pinch of wheeling (on paved road) and of course our world-famous TDS Potluck dinner!!
This is an overnight campout or day trip…whichever suits you best. We are camping at San Mateo Campground https://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=647 For reservations, go to https://www.reservecalifornia.com/CaliforniaWebHome/ and be sure to select the San Mateo section!!
Fri 23rd – for those camping, we will meet at the campground and hang out that evening.
Sat 24th – Drivers’ Meeting at 8am before a short leisurely coast cruise up to Dana Point taking in some beautiful ocean and coastline views along the way. On the way back, we will have brunch at Olamendi’s Mexican Restaurant (they open at 10am) www.originalolamendis.com 34660 Pacific Coast Highway, Dana Point, CA 92624 We then head to the beach for the afternoon (close to the campground so if you need to go back to camp after the cruise, it’s only a few minutes away). The plan is to get to the beach between 12noon – 1pm.
NOTE: the beach we are going to is Calafia State Park Beach since we can park next to the beach (Trestles beach is too long of a walk from parking to the beach) Beach: Calafia State Park Beach. 250 Avenida Califia, San Clemente, CA 92672 Parking $3/hr or $15/day pass. There are pay stations for parking and they take credit cards. You have the option of topping up the parking if you decide to stay longer than planned. If you have a CA State Park pass, you can park for free. Sat evening, 6pm, Potluck Dinner at the Campground. Everybody’s welcome, just bring a dish to share. We will circulate a sign-up sheet at the August General Meeting.
