Location: Pinyon Mountain Trailhead on Highway S2 – Anza-Borrego Desert State Park

Agenda:
08:30–09:00 – Arrival, air down, staging
09:00–09:15 – Driver briefing
09:15 – Roll out
Late Morning/Early Afternoon – Navigate The Squeeze → Heart Attack Hill
Mid-Trail – Breaks for photos/snacks/lunch
Estimated End Time: ~1:00–2:00 PM (depending on group size, and recovery needs)
What Attendees Should Expect:
A classic desert trail and one of the most iconic runs in Anza-Borrego.
Scenic ridge views, sandy washes, rock gardens, and narrow canyons.
A slower-paced technical run with frequent spotting and teamwork.
No turnaround points once committed past The Squeeze.
This will be a day trip with no camping planned.
Trail Difficulty Level:
Upper Moderate to Difficult
Not recommended for stock vehicles.
Damage is possible at The Squeeze for
wider rigs or those without protection.
Requires confident driving and good
communication.
Minimum Required Equipment:
4×4 with low range
33" tires minimum strongly
recommended
Functional front & rear tow points
Full-size spare
Adequate clearance for drop-offs and
rock shelves
Personal / Safety Gear:

Basic tool kit / tire repair kit
Recovery strap (no metal hooks)
Bring water, snacks, and a lunch.
Important Notes:
-This is a Jeep Badge of Honor trail —
attendees with the app can check in at
the beginning or end.
-There is no bypass for Heart Attack Hill
once committed past The Squeeze.
-Body damage, and / or broken side
windows are possible; attendees should
be aware before joining.
