Andy is a new member and board member to TDS, but has been offroading since growing up in Pennsylvania and Ohio. After joining the Navy and being stationed in Virginia and Florida, Andy quickly realized he was no fan of wheeling in the mud. This promptly led to a relocation to San Diego, courtesy of the Navy. After gaining a small amount of adult money, Andy decided the most financially responsible thing to do would be to LS swap and tons swap his 1980 CJ5. This proved to be very financially responsible as he has saved hundreds of hours of shop time by instead attending YouTube university to fix every part of his Jeep himself instead of paying a shop.
To further prove Andy’s financial savviness, he recently purchased a 2005 Ford Econoline “Vanzig” with the venerable 6.0 diesel engine, and has again saved thousands of dollars by replacing every engine component other than the block himself in the driveway. Since Vanzig’s 6.0L engine has been so reliable, he has had many hours to spend with the overlanding crowd exploring the Southwestern United States.
